Locked-in keys, lost keys and emergencies need different help
If your keys are inside the vehicle, call with their location and the vehicle model to discuss access. If they are lost, say that before booking: opening a door does not replace or program a key. A manufacturer-approved remote unlock or an accessible spare key may be an option for your vehicle.
If anyone is trapped and in danger, call 911 rather than waiting for a routine lockout appointment. For an ordinary lockout, have proof of authorization ready and read the safe lockout options.
Locked out of your car?
Tell Rick’s whether the keys are visible inside, locked in the trunk, or missing altogether. Include the year, make and model: door systems and trunk access differ between vehicles. Rick’s will discuss the situation and confirm whether lockout assistance is suitable.
If a child, pet or anyone vulnerable is trapped and in danger, call 911 immediately. An ordinary service request should not delay emergency help.
What to have ready
- Your exact location or nearest cross streets, including the parking-lot or garage entrance.
- The vehicle year, make and model, and where the keys are.
- Whether the engine is running or anyone is inside.
- Identification and proof that you own the vehicle or have permission to access it.
Keep your phone available so pickup details can be clarified. Avoid leaving a running, locked vehicle unattended if you can wait safely nearby.
Avoid turning a lockout into a repair
Improvised wedges, coat hangers and social-media tricks can damage seals, trim, wiring or glass. Do not force the door or attempt methods intended for a different vehicle. If another authorized person can safely bring a spare key, that may resolve the problem.

Can you help if my keys are in the trunk?
It depends on the vehicle and its access system. Tell Rick’s the year, make, model and key location before arranging service.
Is unlocking the car the same as replacing a lost key?
No. Lockout assistance concerns access to the vehicle. If the keys are missing or the vehicle will not recognize them, explain that when you call so the appropriate next step can be discussed.
Can I request help overnight?
Rick’s is open 24/7. Confirm availability, arrival estimate and price directly by phone.

Keys locked in a car on Broadway or Sheridan Road?
Give the exact parking location, vehicle year, make and model, and whether the keys are visible in the cabin or locked in the trunk. Mention a dead battery, unusual lock system or access restriction. Vehicle design affects whether roadside entry is suitable; confirm the assessment and quote.
If a child, vulnerable person or animal is at immediate risk inside the vehicle, call 911 first. Avoid improvised wedges, wires or social-video tricks that may damage seals, glass or wiring. Read the lockout safety guide while you arrange assistance from a safe place.
